Abstract
A Review of Early Music in the 21st Century (Oxford University Press, 2024), edited by Mimi Mitchell. The book presents a wide spectrum of contemporary thought on historically informed performance practice (HIP). It comprises sixteen essays on such issues as redefining authenticity, the relations between HIP and ethnomusicology, educational challenges, the role of new technologies, inclusivity and globalisation. It constitutes an important reference point for early music studies and their place in contemporary musical culture.
