Polish Symphonic Music in Relation to the Phenomenon of German Symphonism: On the Book by Stefan Keym
Abstract
Stefan Keym’s publication has lost none of its relevance since the time of its first, German edition (2010). It remains the most comprehensive monograph on the Polish symphonic output of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, impressing readers with its historical-biographical research into Polish composers’ studies in Germany and also with its comprehensive, highly detailed analyses of symphonic works by such Poles as Noskowski, Paderewski, Karłowicz, Różycki and Szymanowski, which take into account both the European and specifically Polish background to these compositions.
