Abstract

The text, based on the methodology of production studies (including credits analysis) and in-depth interviews, analyzes the genesis and artistic strategies of Marcin Giżycki seen primarily as a filmmaker. It was developed at the intersection of the author’s professional practices (including a long-standing collaboration with Giżycki himself) and, above all, as a reaction to the activities of the reconstruction and archiving group organized after Giżycki’s death by his wife Agnieszka Taborska, which archived and made available more than 50 films by him or directed by him (short, medium and long films) – including many hitherto completely unknown. This fact undoubtedly warrants a review of Marcin Giżycki’s life achievements, for which the text is a research introduction.
