Abstract

The intention of the reflections proposed in this article is to attempt answering a question concerning the status of ontological suffering. Does it exist objectively within the structure of the world? Does it exist necessarily within the structure of the world? Does it constitute the final source of suffering? How does suffering manifest itself within the existence of man and what sort of an attitude can it assume towards the latter? These questions presume a way of understanding the world that emerges from conceptions and theories proposed by contemporary natural studies.

Bogdan Dembiński – prof., dr hab., pracownik Instytutu Filozofii Uniwersytetu Śląskiego. Przedmiotem jego zainteresowania jest filozofia starożytna, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem myśli Platona, a także filozofia w nauce i jej współczesne konteksty. Jest członkiem Komisji Filozofii Nauki PAU. Od 2022 roku członek Polskiej Akademii Umiejętności w Krakowie.
