Abstract
Misiak thoroughly portrays mechanisms of the functioning of film censorship in the Polish People’s Republic after the Wisła congress which set artistic and ideological directives for Polish film makers until a 1956 thaw. Misiak presents the ways in which the party apparatus controlled Poland’s cinematic production, and related problems film directors and screenwriters faced.
