Abstract

Władysław (Vladek) Sheybal belongs to a very small group of Polish artists of whom you can undoubtedly say that they also achieved international fame and recognition. This portrait of the actor, film director and screen writer is impressive, starting from modest theatre rehearsals at a grammar school in Krzemieniec, war ups and downs, failed entrance exams to an actors’ school, a role in Wajda’s Canal to roles in films by Ken Russell, John Boorman and Terence Young.
