Television Palimpsest
Abstract
Kita reflects on the nature of space in modern world. That problem is viewed in a dual way; space is either the object of analysis or the instrument of analysis, and in the latter case it is the cognitive metaphor for culture research. Kita’s analysis deals with the idea of space as conceived of by Deleuze, Burgess, Jameson and Pierre Levy. But Kita’s interest is media-organized space (TV, computer and video), or media space (e.g. computer-generated space) and mediatized space (i.e. transformed according to the possibilities of media technology). The organization of space and the way man exists in it are important determinants of the cultural change.
