Abstract

Mazierska writes that film maker as the main hero appeared in Godard’s film only four years after he had debuted, and the character comes and goes in the work of the maker of Breathless till today. According to Mazierska, film making is one of two professions Godard’s heroes practice most frequently. The other profession is prostitution. Godard seems to see many similarities between the two. Directing and script writing is a kind of trade. Prostitution presented by Godard is the test to discover by man what is not saleable – in contrast to what can be given to the world. Poor artists give everything to the world as they are submissive tools in the hands of producers, technologies and the audience.
