Abstract

The archival material consisting of eleven letters and two statements addressed to the Party Control Committee. These documents pertain to the Dejmek’s production of Forefathers’ Eve. The documents originate from the archive of the National Theater, which was under the supervision of literary secretary Halina Zakrzewska during Dejmek's tenure as director from 1962 to 1968. Noteworthy among these documents is a letter from Dejmek to Minister Lucjan Motyka, wherein he formally requested his dismissal as director of the National Theater. In the introduction, the editor provides a concise biography of Zakrzewska and a detailed history of the archive she maintained, which is currently housed in the National Library.
